Putting Tips

How many times have you made your way all down the fairway to the point where you ball is sitting on the green—maybe just a foot or two from the hole, and you’re already counting up your score when you flub the putt? What you need is to take that part of your game a little more seriously. Many golfers think that putting is the easiest part of the game so they don’t give it as much attention as they should. Remember that putting is as important as any other aspect and it’s the part that turns many an eagle into a bogie.

But there are things that you can do to improve that part of your game and at least one of these comes directly from the playbooks of the professionals. It may not look like a move that someone with that level of experience would attempt, but some of the pros that have lost their confidence will look at the hole or close their eyes completely while making a putt. But what is the reason behind this seemingly crazy behavior?

The experts suggest that it can help all golfers on several different levels to improve their game. First off, closing the eyes tends to cleanse the mind according to those who have tried it, and it also helps to get the player away from what they like to call ball focus. Putting with the eyes closed also helps players that suffer from rapid eye movements that can eventually affect their game if something isn’t done.

But what about the rest of us? Can we actually play with our eyes closed and improve our game? Chances are if we ask at least a few of our golf partners they would suggest that they assumed we’d been playing with our eyes closed all along.
