Getting More Distance
One of the cardinal rules of golf is getting as much distance as possible for every shot. Distance is the word that you hear talked about more often than any other in the clubhouse and golfers are always trying to match an increase in the distance with the consistency that they desire.
All the experts agree that a proper weight shift is very often the way to get this distance and consistency and one of the ways to start a process that will result in more consistency and distance is too imagine a pole coming straight up out of the ground where the ball is resting. What you want to do is imagine your shoulder behind that ball and then imagine the pole as you start through your swing without moving your hips.
This is one way the experts suggest that you can initiate a proper and good downswing. As you follow through you should make sure that your right shoulder should move past the ball and the imaginary pole position as well. When this is all done correctly you will ensure the proper weight displacement and your swing will have more distance and consistency.
Most of the experts also suggest that the best way to gain distance in your golf swing is to hit the ball with the club face square at impact. Your shots will fly in a straight manner if and only if you hit the ball with a square clubface.
