Getting started with a new program is always a challenge for me. What is the best approach to help me overcome this phobia?
The CaddieMasterPro program comes with a "start-up wizard". This process can be initiated by clicking on the applicable command button on the main screen. This wizard will explain and lead you through the 3 important steps to getting up and running. The steps include:
- Setting up a golf course
- Setting up a golfer (presumably you)
- Doing some basic configuring to make subsequent processing easier
Having executed these simple steps, you should enter some rounds of golf for yourself or for the temporary golf just to see how things work. Use both the detailed hole-by-hole screen or the rapid entry screen in order to determine which approach best suits your needs.
This web site also provides you with a means of downloading a promotional "flash-like" program that serves to describe the program functionality in a very "non-intimidating" manner. This program was primarily designed to give potential buyers an idea of the program functionality, but is also useful as an educational tool. You should download this program and check it out.
Also, don't forget that free help is never more than an email away.

I received the email with the link to download the program but it keeps failing. What do I do?
To begin, you should understand that the download functionality has been designed such that a download can only be executed ONCE. This is necessary to prevent a customer from "sharing" the link with other golfers. If a download fails, you will have to contact the CaddieMasterPro support team and request a new link.
The speed and reliability of file downloads is something that is fundamentally out of the control of the team at the CaddieMaster support center. It depends to a large extent on the hardware being used and the service provided by your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
A failed download is not a common problem. Out of 30 downloads, there might be one that keeps failing. In these unusual situations, it is recommended that you temporarily disable virus protection programs (like Norton Antivirus) before attempting the download.
If you still have trouble, please go to the bottom of this page and complete the form. Ask to have another download link sent to you. Never fear, if we are not able to get the download to you electronically, we will arrange to have the CD version shipped out to you.

Does the program include a User Manual and where is it?
Yes, the installation of the CaddieMasterPro program will also copy a User Manual to your hard disk. In fact, you get two manuals. One is a short 8-page manual (referred to as the jewel case manual) to help you quickly get up and running.
The second is a full 80+ page manual that includes all the detailed information about the program. The easiest way to find the manuals is to do the following:
- Click on "Start"
- Click on "Programs" or "Program Files"
- From the displayed sub-menu, click on "CaddieMasterPro"
- From the next displayed sub-menu, you will have access to the CaddieMasterPro program and to the Jewel Case manual and the full User manual. Both come in Word or Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format. Choose the preferred format by clicking on the applicable option.
- It is recommended that the manual be printed and kept available for reference purposes
- As new releases of the CaddieMasterPro program become available, replacement manuals that document the new features will also be installed.

I find all those demo golfers, courses and rounds to be annoying. What are they for and how do I get rid of them?
The delivered CaddieMasterPro program includes 4 demo golfers, 12 golf courses and many rounds for the first demo golfer. This data has been included so that the new user can appreciate the wealth of functionality that will be available once a good deal of data has been entered.
The display of this information can be easily hidden. Simply choose the "Maintenance" option from the menu at the top of the home screen and then the "System Control Parameters" sub-option.
From the displayed screen, click on the "Performance" tab. Using this screen, note that the display of demo information can be easily inhibited or reactivated. This can be done by clicking on the applicable radio button in the bottom left corner of the screen.
Having made this change, click on the "Update" button to the right and just like that, all that demo information will be hidden (not deleted!)..

On the same theme as the preceding question about demo data, what is the point of the temporary golfer and golf course and how can I get rid of them?
The temporary golfer and golf course have been created to assist the new user with the testing of the program. You can enter test rounds just to see how things work and not worry about cleaning things up at a later time.
Once you feel comfortable with the program and have set up "real" golfers, courses and rounds you can (and probably should) delete the temporary golfer and golf course.

I want to be sure that my important CaddieMasterPro data has been safely backed up. What should I do?
The CaddieMasterPro program does not include a specific routine for backing up your important golf data that includes golfers, golf courses and rounds played. However there are many 3rd-party utility programs available to help you achieve this goal.
Whether you use programs of this type or handle it manually, you only have to worry about one file. It is the file named "cm32.mdb" and it can normally be found in your Windows folder named "c:\Program Files\CaddieMasterPro".
To back up your data, simply transfer this file to another media (presumably a diskette or CD) on a regular basis.

I have recently upgraded to a new computer and want to transfer my CaddieMasterPro program and data to that machine. What do I do?
In order to facilitate the transfer to another computer, the most important file to worry about is the one named "cm32.mdb". This file can normally be found in your Windows folder named "c:\Program Files\CaddieMasterPro".
With this file from your old computer safely stored on some external media (presumably a diskette or CD) or available through a local network connection, you should:
- Use your original CaddieMasterPro CD or downloaded setup program to install the CaddieMasterPro program from scratch onto the new computer.
- You should then copy the saved "cm32.mdb" file (with your data) mentioned above to the "c:\Program Files\CaddieMasterPro" folder such that is overwrites the empty file of the same name that the setup program created.
- In the event that you are a registered user and have misplaced the original install CD or downloaded setup program, please complete the form at the bottom of this page and explain the situation. You will be provided with a replacement install program at no charge.
